BOUNCERS
Bouncers is the brainchild oi Lynda Bailey, who runs classes throughout Edinburgh which provide a lovely experience for mothers and children up to live. Lynda, a graduate ol the Guildhall School oi Music and Drama, combines keep lit tor the adults with play, songs and stories tor the children. Solar as she knows, Bouncers is unique.
‘I first had the idea when I was attending a Mother and Toddler group with my own child in Croydon. A iriend and i started some very successful children’s classes in music and drama. i’ve since developed my ideas and am hoping people in Scotland will be as enthusiastic as those down south.’
Her aim is to involve both mothers and children in creative play. The classes are a pleasure to attend. it’s like seeing the Piayschooi presenter step out ol the television and give you a private show.
Lynda is helped at the classes only by a puppet, but Bouncers also runs children’s parties and at these her husband David becomes straight man to her clown.
With television providing so much at children's entertainment these days Lynda’s Ilve presentation of songs, rhymes, stories and games is very welcome. (Shirley Gibb)

Radio 4, Fri 13, 11.45am. As winner of the Booker Prize, the Camegle Medal and the Whitbread Prize, Penelope Lively has indisputably proved herseil to be at the top of her prolession as author at both children’s and adults’ books. She is also the presenter of Treasure Islands, the weekly 84 children’s book programme broadcast on Friday mornings until 18 December. A welcome series at any time, it is especially useful in the run up to Christmas and the programme on Friday 13 looks at children’s book illustration with masters oi the art such as Quentin Blake (see illustration from ‘Underthe Bed’ by Blake). Future programmes discuss books ior teenagers with Edinburgh born author, Joan Lingard, and Christmas books with Blake Morrison, literary editor of the Observer. (S.i(.)
