Janet Smith & Dancers Thurs 22—Sat 24 ()ct. 7.30pm. For the first time this popular contemporary dance group visit Scotland. Their tour will continue to Fraserburgh. Aberdeen. Elgin. lnverurie. Aboyne and the MacRobert Centre. Stirling. Janet Smith began her company in 1976. developing performance which includes song. dance. mime and most importantly live music. This season. they will be dancing four pieces from the current repertoire. ‘Still No Word From Anton‘ inspired by the soap opera and ‘5 Preludes‘ are the work of Smith herself. ‘One Fine Day At Court' was guest-choreographed by Ann Dewey. an ex-Janet Smith dancer and ‘Fool‘s Day‘ by Robert North. ex-Ballet Rambert and Smith‘s husband. Scottish Ballet‘s new studio theatre opens this month with a Gala Opening (21 Oct at 8pm. Black tie. Minimum donation £25). Then. until the beginning of December. three programmes rotate on Thurs.
