The Interior of the First Hunterian Musuem with Statue of James Watt by William Stewart ( 1823—1906). The painting makes reference to a modest incident which partially led Watt on to his revolutionary invention of the steam engine. As he was Mathematical Instrument Maker to Glasgow University at the time. 1757. its recent purchase by the museum is not entirely inappropriate.
