A MEETING PLACE FOR LATE JAZZ FOOD AND ALE

One at the all time masters at the alto saxophone,

Benny Carter (see photo) is one at the Jazz Giants. An arrangerlrom the very beginning at Big Bands, he has worked tor Fletcher Henderson, Benny Goodman - even Henry Hall’s BBC Dance Orchestra and as a player has recorded halt a hundred albums with just about everybody that matters in jazz. He is also a very tine exponent of the trumpet, trombone, clarinet, tenor sax and piano! His name is a byword tortaste and subtle melodic invention, and at the age at eighty he leads his All Star Big Band on the 5th, ioins Glasgow singer Carol Kidd on the 4th, and gives a long-awaited concert with Bobby Wishart’s Strathclyde Youth Jazz Orchestra on the 2nd.
