An Operatic Gala with Dame Joan Sutherland making her first British concert performances for 5 years; Christmas with The King’s Singers, Pinchas Zukerman playing the Beethoven Violin Concerto and an evening with Stuart Burrows. These are just some of the highlights in a season that also marks a new era for the SCO—our first season with new Principal Conductor, Jukka-Pekka Saraste. Providing a back-cloth to this rich tapestry of music and artists are the familiar masterpieces, many of Mozart's best-loved symphonies, his Serenade for 13 Wind Instruments (of 'Amadeus' fame). Beethoven's Symphonies Nos. 3 'Eroica', 4 and 7, Mendelssohn's Hebrides Overture and Scotch Symphony and Dvorak’s Serenade for Strings.
