Jeannie Main is the young but unsentimental heroine ofthis excellently-told story, set at the time ofCulloden and the 1745 Jacobite Rising. Jeannie, reluctantly becoming embroiled in the bloody events, unexpectedly finds a succession of telling demands are made upon her. Quest fora Kelpie is both a first novel and competition winner for its highly talented author Frances Hendry. Frances also adapted it for radio aging Jeannie into ‘a real crusty old bird’ to tell the story by reflection her childhood. Well worth catching.

They have been rehearsed specially for the show and will be taking part, as will children from Stockbridge Primary, Edinburgh when the show goes on to the King’s, Edinburgh 12—16 May. See photo.
