‘It is high time Fine Art shifted gear and put its loot down on the accelerator', says Gordon Muir, one at two young artists showing at the Transmission Gallery in Glasgow from Tue 7 April. His paintings look to the pop culture and politics of today rather than at artistic tradition. Malcolm Dickson incorporates junk into a clashing installation.

The Cowlairs Locomotive Works 1841—1966 A new display describing the history ofone of the first large railway works in Britain opened last month.
