MUSICAL MOVEMENT
If the word ‘musical' conjures up unwelcome images foryou of ‘The King and l‘ or casts on roller skates, then a new young theatre company is out to rekindle your enthusiasm. Bobok formed Iastyearwith the intention of putting on ‘new and neglected' pieces of musical theatre and after a successful run of ‘Crime and Punishment' during last year’s Festival, the company has decided to go professional. Their first production
is a one-woman show about Colette, the infamous French writer, reflecting her character and life—which, remarkably, encompassed both the ‘Belle Epoque’ of Paris in the nineties and the Second World War— entirely through original new songs. Neal Fldelo of the company describes the music as ‘mainstream but not mindless’: ‘You won't find us putting on Oklahoma’. See Tron Glasgow and Reid Hall Edinburgh.
