0 CHOREOGRAPHIC FESTIVAL Sat 21 and Sun 22 March. Organised by the Scottish Council for Dance. this is the festival's sixth year. Held at the Aberdeen College of Education. it will include classes and talks and is open to community. amateur and professional groups and individuals. Guest teachers include Katie Duck. Frank McConnell and Ann Dickie. On Sat 2] March at 7pm in the college theatre there will be a public Open Forum - a discussion and demonstration event. On Sun 22 March at 3pm there will be a performance by the participants of the course. Tom Yang is Director of the 1987 programme.

Sioban Davies and her husband David Buckland make quite a team. This month, theirwork appears in Scotland togetherand apart.
Davies is a choreographer, Buckland a photographer and set designer. Both belong to the contemporary vein of their chosen mediums. Davies making dance for London Contemporary who are appearing in Glasgow (24—28 March) and Buckland making fine art photographs. A theatrical family portrait is currently part of an exhibition at Stills in Edinburgh which spotlights twenty of ‘today’s’ photographers.
Whiletheirwork appears here, Davies and her family are packing their bagsforAmerica. Davies wasthe first choreographerto win a Fullbright Award and she is preparing to use it on a nine-month stay starting at the end of this month. As well as taking over ideas from this country to the States, which is whatthe Fullbright is all about, she

also wants to privately reassess her next moves. New York will be the first stop, to take up class again after a long absence. After that it's a grand tour of thatvast country. And her two babies and husband will be her constant companions. Family life is no obstacle to Davies’ career— it's all part of the same thing. herappearances on TV dance programmes coincided with pregnancy— one, a week before she was due. Now ten months and three months, the children are never left out.
Sioban Davies‘ piece ‘And Do They Do’ is performed as part of London Contemporary’s first programme at Theatre Royal. The design is David Buckland‘s and the music Michael Nyman's of ‘The Draughtsman's Contract’. She describes it as ‘rapid, joyous with big explosions of fast music' and perhaps not quite as studied as some of her work. By the time it arrives here, she will be on her way. (Alice Bain)
