Not without its moments too is Trick Or Treat, wherein wimpy high school kid resurrects the recently departed soul 01 metal idol Sammi Curr (by spinning one at his records backwards would you believe?) to enlist his aid in getting his own back on the nasty bullies who have been making tun at his haircut. Action highlight is when the mangy Curr zaps a moralising TV pundit into a pile ol cinders and the wimp's even wimpier buddy promptly vacuums up the mess on the floor belore his mom comes home. The rest oi the movie tails between making lun ot the heavy metal censorship lobby and glorifying the mindless violence at the music. belore tinting out in a cliched and dull iinale when Curr goes ape-shit atthe school prom. Ho-hum.
As a double-bill the combined charms ot the pair probably merit a lan’s attention some wet afternoon when he’s resting his love piston or tired at running with the devil, but Spinal Tap remains the mutha ol metal movies. (Rockin’ Trev)
