Youth Theatre Team Mondays (NB changed from Fridays) 7.30pm. £3 per term. For 12 years and over. New members always welcome to join the Youth Theatre which works on drama skills to build into an annual production.
Music Programme The centre runs an extensive music programme which is heavily subscribed. but anyone interested should contact music staff for information on coming vacancies/new projects.
Saturday atternoon activities 2—4pm. Include arts and crafts. dance. drama, drawing and painting and weaving. Most classes full at the present, but vacancies do arise. Contact centre for further details. Tuesday Drama Group has been cancelled.
The most famous events in Mary, Queen of Scots’ life are all very bloody. Her first husband died at 15, her second was lound strangled and her third died insane in a Danish prison. In a lamous scene in Holyrood Palace her Secretary, Hizzio, was murdered in her presence by her second husband, Lord Darnley. Mary and Rizzio were seated together at supper when the murderer burst in and Hizzio, clinging to the skirts ol the Queen (who was 6 months pregnant with James VI) was dragged bloody and screaming lrom the room. She herself was executed on the orders other second cousin Elizabeth I, dying at Fotheringay Castle on 7 Feb, 1587. According to legend, her little dog was hidden under her skirts as she went to the block.
‘Mary Queen of Scots Had Her Head Chopped Dit’ is the apt title at a tour-minute animated iilm being made by children lrom tour schools in Scotland (including Fotheringay primary school!). It will serve as a briel introduction to the exhibition ‘A Celebration at Mary, Queen at Scots', being held in the National Portrait Gallery, July—October. Toys from the Attic Until 5 May. A 2000 year-old Egyptian toy horse is one of the guests in this exhibition which brings together a wide range ofold-fashioned. mainly Victorian toys.
