Unfortunately his latest platoon are an ill-assorted ragbag of maladjusted misfits. dopes and dropouts. As he whips them into shape he also tries a little tenderness in an attempt to woo his ex-wife Aggie and come to terms with the passing ofthe years. Matters are interrupted when the platoon is put on alert and dispatched to Grenada. In the States Richard Schickel dismissed this as ‘genre moviemaking‘ but added ‘nobody does that with greater conviction. energy and unpatronising affection for the grand old forms than Eastwood.’ Sounds promising — to be reviewed.
