Zoot Money teams with Tam White and tronts The Dexters at Edinburgh (5 Dec). Zoot's high energy vocal style has been a moving force in the British R & B scene lrom the early sixties days ot Alexis Korner and John Mayall through spells with his own band and as singer with the Animals. Recent years have seen a songwriting career blossom and he is responsible, as musical director, tor the new John Byrne TV serial Tutti Frutti, on the lite and hard times oi an emerging rock band.
The othergreat male voice or the Queens Hall concert is to be heard on Let The Good Times Roll, a live BBC produced recording oi Tam White (see photo) and the Dexters, available as cassette lrom the better record shops or at concerts. The ‘live' recording quality is superb with a good balance an?f clean separation olthe ten piece ou it.

The band run through eleven oi their numbers from T-Bone Walker's slow Stormy Monday Blues, a beautiiul brooding Ain’t No Sunshine and the bar-room poetry at Tom Waits’ New Coat Oi Paint to the last tricks oi Move Too Soon and ravers like the title track and Caledonia. In concert Liz McEwan moves irom back-up vocals to lead on a iew songs and on the cassette she takes a bluesy Ain’t No Use and is complemented by Jim Condie’s eloquent guitarwork. The line-up at the Queen’s Hall also includes Gordon Cruikshank on tenor and baritone sax, Brian Keddie on trombone, Jeri Freedner on alto sax and the brass section is completed by Don Corbett on trumpet. Brian Kellock on keyboards, Paul Manson on bass and Dave Swanson on drums drive the whole machine along. Let the good times roll into someone’s stocking next month. (Norman Chalmers)
