a guilt-ridden mass-murderer. Hare, a coarser character with a similar background in the Irish iamine, is driven to terrorism and then to Edinburgh where he meets Burke. This is a vigorous, sometimes disturbing production, which drew deserved critical acclaim at this year’s Festival Fringe. The play is violent and perhaps marred by polemicism, but certainly worth seeing. (Andrew Dorward).
