Scottish Photography: The First Halt (Mayfest) Until Sat 1 June. The archive from the Portrait Gallery in Edinburgh is on the move for
Mayfest. Well. part of it anyway. Forty photographs illustrate the skill and artistry of Scottish photographers like Hill and Adamson and James Craig Annan during the seventy years after the technique was first discovered. The Family of Coal Miners- Photographs by Milton Rogovin (Mayfest) Until Sun 1 June. In the truly American tradition of documentary photography. Rogovin. himself from the Sates. tackles the lives of miners and their families at work and at home. The exhibition is part of a world project and has been organised by Stills Gallery in Edinburgh. Matisse — illustrations to Ronsard Tue 3—Sun 22 June. During the same period Matisse was experimenting with his large. colourful cut-outs. he was also producing lithographs to illustrate the love poems of French writer Pierre de Ronsard (1524—85). This exhibition takes a selection of these along with photographs of the
