The Glasgow Diamonds are Scotland’s only representatives in the newly Iormed Budweiser League. Budweiser have opted to spend £250,000 on encouraging the game in Britain over the next lew years. They caused a bit at a stir during the close season when they went round the country poaching the best clubs from the BAFLto lorm theirown league. lucrative - of Bob Geldot’s schemes to v help the starving takes place on Sunday 25 May. Sport Aid are organising the Race Against Time which will happen simultaneously around the world at 4pm GMT. The Scottish end at the event will take place at Glasgow Green on part of the marathon course. Anyone wishing to join in will receive an official Sport Aid T—shirt and will be sponsored per km torthe 10 km race (6.2 miles).
For those not up to the six mile run, there is an alternative event at the SECC in Glasgow, starting at 1 pm and linishing at 6pm. The World Workout begins with a Radio Clyde Disco and there will be a celebrity lashion show as well as a celebrity workout with a host ot Scottish stars taking part. The idea is that anyone wishing to take part can be sponsored per minute in a series 01 workouts, or mobility excercises and already there are people with sponsorship of up to £200 at this early stage.
