MEADOWS FESTIVAL
The Meadows Festival is an annual event lounded in 1975 by George Foulkes, now MP lorAyr, as a locus tor community groups in the South ot Edinburgh.
Having come close to still birth, the lestival has now burgeoned into a week-long event, with a tuntair, a theatre, stalls, and music (ranging from pop to lolk) plus exhibitions, and lootball competitions.
The lorry trailer that doubles as the rock venue, the tuntair (pictured), whose lights can be seen across the city until 10pm, and the stalls, all too ot them, provide the main attraction for most people, butthe programme is so diverse that you could do your shopping in the stalls, and have the bonus at seeing puppets, comics, circuses and pipe bands, at the same time.
There are also photographic
competitions, one for adults, one for the under 12's, with prizes ot a £20
