Renaissance and the present day form the basis of this interesting programme. Of our own times, Lyell Cresswell’s new piece specially written for Cappella Nova and entitled To aspro pano sto aspro (not about getting rid of hangovers, but translated as White on White), is premiered, and Martin Dalby‘s Mater Salutaris gets a welcome airing, as does Robin Orr’s Three Organ preludes on Scottish Psalm Tunes. From the 16th century the main unaccompanied choral work is the Mass by Robert Carver.
