St Paul is ERCU’s chosen work this evening, last performed by them in 1901 , so it’s unlikely to evoke any cries of ‘oh no, not this again’ from the Chorus. It’s a shame it’s rarely performed as it has several well known choruses eg, Happy and Blest Are They and Rise Up! Arise! Philip Ledger conducts, and joining the singers, who’ve been rehearsed by Geoffrey Ditcham, are the Philharmonic Virtuosi of Scotland and soloists Mary Wells, William Kendall and Stephen Rhys-Williams.
