TYRE TRIALS
The Lanarkshire Valente is the third round at the Autocycle Scottish Championship but is a trial with a dillerence in that the main road section at the course requires competitors to ride road-legal bikes. This immediately reduces entries, but the better quality of competitors like Lesley Winthrop and Gavin Johnson should be there looking lor championship points to total towards the coveted Scottish Trophy awarded at the end at the year.
As standards are raised at National Events, more riders are looking to closed club events lor competition circuits, and motocross and enduro are gaining in popularity. It is unlortunate that good Scots have to go south to enter at International standard, but with the Trials at Lauder (13 April) also being a National event, organisers are expecting a good turnout and high level competition. These trials are important preparation lorthe hectic Scottish Six Days which will take over Fort William lor more than the 60th year running this May. (Janet McLean)

two-hour allowance to finish.
