What do the Malia, the World Monetary Fund and necrophilia have in common? The answer is to be found in The Harbinger Report, a Civil Service documentaround which Alasdair Gray's new play, McGrotty and Ludmilia revolves.
How McGrotty gets the girl, power and a Kelvinside accent forms the basis of the rest olthe plot and it it all sounds very simple, that is because it is. For let those iearing Alasdair Gray at his most obscure be reassured; McGrotty and Ludmilia is certainly not subtle theatre.

panto tradition. Russell Hunter astne baddy Sir Arthur draws upon a rich theatrical legacy, including Captain Hook and the Wicked Witch irom Snow White.
But the real star oi the show is a nifty rotating set designed by Peter Ling which allows instantaneous scene shifts. Thanks to this and the cast‘s enthusiasm, the play maintains momentum and holds interest despite the fact that Alasdair Gray doesn‘t really have anything new to say.
However, this production isn’t about education; it's about entertainment. It won't provoke serious discussion about the nature at political power but it might give you a laugh. (Liz Wilson).
