SAX DF BONES

Plattorm blows into the New Year with an interesting pair 01 pairings; Edinburgh's top line trombonist Brian Keddie and poll-winning slideman Roy Williams, London based king of mainstream and swing, share the stage with Glasgow's Bobby Wishart (above) and the other Londoner John Barnes on tenor, baritone and soprano sax and clarinet.

Williams and Barnes were both

members at Alex Welsh’s band in the 70s and I expect the temporary emergence or an 11 piece group towards the end of a stimulating night at the Queen's Hall, Edinburgh on the 17th.

Look forward also to the same venue on the 24th with singer Sheila Jordan/bassist Harvie Swartz and solo guitarist Martin Taylor. (Norman Chalmersl
