Sixty years ago In the East End of London, locals who wanted their children to enjoy the outdoor life, but without the regimentation of the Scouts, started the Woodcraft Folk. Since then the movement has spread throughout the country and in Glasgow on the 19th. there is a 60th Anniversary Festival with games, stalls, poetiy, cabaret and music (see listings).

Woodcraft Folk are associated with the movement for world disarmament and the redistribution of world resources. They aim to teach the ideals of democracy, co-operation and tolerance to children, hoping to produce a more responsible adult population in the future and thereiore a more peaceful world.
