0 Skeletal Family in Strutz. To dance to The Skeletal Family what you must do is (a) stand completely still (b) move your hips slightly from side to side and (c) tap the heel of your left foot on the ground in time to their dirge-like beat. New hippy spiky gloom. Yuk.

0 Prelab Sprout at Glasgow University’s Queen Margaret Union. The pride of Newcastle again gracing a Glasgow stage. unfortunately for students and friends only. Prefab Sprout, despite their ridiculous name are one of the few British bands keeping alive the pure pop tradition — if you haven‘t already bought it, their second album ‘Steve McQueen’ has to be on this year‘s crucial listening list.

I confess to being fairly ignorant ofThe Supremes’ fortunes and quality control in recent years, but the old Motown recordings with Diana Ross could melt the stoniest heart into quivering fluffy jelly. Backed by a full orchestra, this could be a good one.

But now he's paid
well-crafted pseudo-pop songs with their clever little twists and turns. They’ve left me cold so far.
