FAGIN’S TWIST Avant Garde Dance Company, presented by The Place ZOO Southside, Sun 20–Sun 27 Aug, 1pm, £13 (£11). A contemporary hip hop reimagining of Charles Dickens’ Oliver Twist, telling the early story of one of the writer’s most iconic characters. Choreographer Tony Adigun shows us Fagin in his youth, corrupted by greed and worn down by poverty. Starring seven dancers from Turkey, #JeSuis tackles how the media inl uences the way we see the world, touching on themes of displacement, refuge and instability. Featuring a score by Odedra’s long-term collaborator Nicki Wells.

French dancer and singer Cécile Da Costa dances, sings and undergoes extreme physical strain in order to tell her intimate story. ONE STEP BEFORE THE FALL Spiti re Company & Damúza ZOO Southside, Wed 16–Thu 24 Aug (not 18, 19, 23), 5pm, £14 (£12). Following a worldwide tour, this production from Spiti re Company, in association with Damúza Theater comes back to the Fringe. Inspired by Muhammed Ali’s i ght against Parkinson’s disease, performed by dancer Markéta Vacovská and singer Lenka Dusilová. Part of Czech Showcase, 2017.

Award-winning duo Sharon Eyal and Gai Behar have created numerous critically acclaimed works for world-class companies including Batsheva Dance, Nederlands Dans Theater and Carte Blanche. This work is inspired by club culture and is part of British Council Edinburgh Showcase 2017 and Made in Scotland 2017. TUTUMUCKY Scottish Dance Theatre ZOO Southside, Wed 16–Sun 20 Aug, 7pm, £12 (£10). Choreographed by Botis Seva, TuTuMucky explores how we’re shaped by the chaotic world around us, experimenting with classical music and hip hop and featuring ballet, contemporary and hip hop techniques.
