TOTALLY MENTAL
We challenged Doug Segal to predict what was going to be on page 18 of the last issue. Here’s how it panned out
On Thu 8 Aug, mentalist Doug Segal swung by List HQ with a sealed envelope. In it was his prediction of what would be on page 18 of the subsequent issue – the content of which we had not yet even written.
Skip forward to the day of publication, and Segal knocks it out of the park. Not only did he correctly guess that we’d be covering the Granta Young Novelist events at the Edinburgh International Book Festival, but he also nailed our headline and – even more impressively – some layout choices.
You can check out the whole thing (and suggest your own theories on how he did it) at list.co.uk/festival. (Niki Boyle)
■ Doug Segal: I Can Make You a Mentalist, Gilded Balloon Teviot, 622 6552, until 26 Aug, 6.30pm, £9–£10 (£8–£9).
