Radioactive Man and Silvah Bullet
KEITH TENNISWOOD, the man of many guises (Radioactive Man, Two Lone Swordsman) and purveyor of quality acidic electro, tells David Pollock about
his latest collaboration.
‘ es. But don‘t tell anyone.’ That’s Keith YTenniswood‘s reaction to the assertion that
his Radioactive Man moniker‘s origin may well mark him out as a closet Sim/Lyons" fan. Despite rising to prominence as the other half of Two Lone Swordsmen (alongside Andrew Weatherall) moonlighting as Radioactive Man has brought him well deserved notoriety in his own right. The 2001 debut LP Radioactive Man. in fact. earned him the title of ‘one of the UK‘s most underrated DJ/producers‘. while 2003's follow-up Booby Trap raised the bar of critical good feeling yet further.
For RM devotees out there of course this show will see our hero hit the decks. Not only that but he has a slightly more unusual trick up his sleeve. ‘l‘m playing bass with Silvah Bullet.’ elaborates Tenniswood. on yet another of his side projects. ‘Which is kind of like punked-up hip hop business. It's nice to do things like this to explore what you're capable of and to indulge yourself in whatever you want.’
Disregarding that possible double meaning. what this means is a full live set on the night. with Tenniswood providing the electronic element as well as bass. with Silvah Bullet M(‘ing and additional decks and drums. The line between hip hop and electro is expected to be not only rediscovered. but ridden roughshod all over.

‘WHEN I STARTED MAKING MUSIC, I WANTED TO BE JIMI HENDRIX'
‘When I started making music. I wanted to be Jimi Ilendrix.’ reveals Tenniswood. most unsurprisingly. ‘My dad was told to get rid of his guitar when he was a teen by his father. so he made sure I had one at an early age. From there I started playing in various bands from about the age of l5.~ Around 1994 this career trajectory would lead 'l‘enniswood to Weatherall. through mutual
friends Jagz Kooner and Gary Burns (Sabres of
Paradise/the Aloof) and clubs such as Sabresonic and the Drum Club. 'I was working in the studio with the Aloof.’ recalls Tenniswood. ‘Skinning tip mainly. but Andy and I also spent time together trying to learn the equipment. and that‘s how 'l‘wo Lone Swordsmen were born.‘
Things have now come full circle and the duo‘s new work is largely electric. ‘That came about purely because our mate wanted to store his drums in our studio.~ he says. 'So we borrowed mics and set up a live room. It‘s refreshing but doesn’t feel that different to how we were before to be honest. although it will be fun to tour the album in the autumn.’ It certainly will. but you‘ll forgive us if we dance our asses off here before we get excited about the future.
