The Film Festival isn't the only festival screening films in Edinburgh this August. Robert Silman. of Tambar Productions. which company has mounted six Fringe shows. has hooked some screen time at the Dominion Cinema on Wednesday 22 August for Pioneers Of The American Fringe. Pioneers comprises three films. from three filmmakers. exiled. blacklisted and underground. The films are Shakespez'ire l/Val/ah. directed by James Ivory who turned his back on Hollywood in 196:3 before his profitable Merchant—Ivory collaborations in the 80s and 90s. The Servant tpicturedi. made by Joseph Losey who was blacklisted during the McCarthy witchhunts. and Heat. probably Andy Warhol's most well-known foray into cinema. And elsewhere not on the Film Festival. the Pleasance is
