The two multimedia solos Steckler is bringing to 'he Fringe don't seem to contain anything conspicuously weird. but they seem to be manifest with a certain degree of stage magic.
Steckler performs Something Blue in a wedding dress. backed by the music of Henryk Gorecki and the visuals of video artist John McGeoch (whose kids' show The Comie is also showing on the Fringe). The inspiration for Daneing on the Moon. a piece which the dancer thinks of as ‘a series of movement paintings. was poems written by Steckler‘s mother. addressed to her children and discovered after her death.
Steckler's eclectic training ranges from ballet to contemporary to butoh dance. .»\dditionally she holds a PhD in clinical/community psychology. and works as a body psychotherapist. Her artistic philosophy carries a simple resonance: ‘1 am not afraid of showing emotion as a choreographer.
