This is neither orthodox mime or particularly w ell-executed physical theatre yet the performers Jamie (ilassman. Joel Spence and Douglas l‘raw ley are so likeahle it is difficult not to get drawn iiitn their little fantasy of failure. It certainly has its moments and it may ~just he a piece that grows stronger with each performance. The same whiny. wheezy‘. jerky delivery that entranced or enraged audiences all those Fringes ago. Open them and there's the familiar swandive bow and the amt twisted behind him like an Action Man locked out of shape. as though permanently about to throw a grenade. Maybe into a pack of happy children. ()r gambolling lambs.
Yet. the Beatle bowl-cut has gone. replaced by a gelled Hinge & Brackett; his combats. cardy and shoes as silver as his jokes are gold. And it's not just the way he tells them. Which is hilarious in itself. It‘s the number ofjokes he has. There are absolutely loads of them; most hit some spot. usually out of nowhere; others you'll still be trying to work out days later.
And while it's always a crime for reviewers to reveal a comic's best gags, no one ever said you couldn't mention the set- ups: ‘I picked my mother up at the airport': ‘I played a benefit for epileptics': ‘while walking through the park. I was the victim of an asthma attack'. liach one with an absolute killer punchline.
‘There's a lot of weirdos out there'. limo concluded. While. he‘s hardly the sanest man you'll ever come across. he's almost top of the class in the laughing academy. (Brian Donaldson)

This is broad cnmcdy played with all the subtlety of a pantn. the period detail is appalling and the segments in which the hand try and play live music are toe-curling.
