Scotland’s newest radio station, Beat 106, will be broadcasting live from the Edinburgh International Club Festival every Thu in August. The treats include glam house-meister Craig Burger Queen, The Tunnel’s Colin Tevendale, trance-man Trevor Reilly and Stevie Kerr.

I Electric Bogie at La Belle Angele. llpm-Sam. £ . 17 Aug only. A Festival trip east for The J engaheads, Glasgow’s renowned purveyors of breaks, beats and anything else which takes their fancy. They will be joined by special guest Adam Freeland, who’s musical eclecticism helped spawn the nu-breaks genre. What to expect then? Well, The Jengaheads tell guests that there’s no music policy so open your mind to anything from hip hop to electro to house to drum & bass, probably impressively delivered in a ‘three decks and effects’ manner.

I Freestyle Transmissions at Studio 24. lOpm-Sam. £3 (watch out for free passes). The Freestyle Transmissions crew are back doing what they do (and, believe me, it’s not that easy to describe), generally for charity. Expect an eclectic mix of local DJs and live performers doing anything from techno, to hip hop, to drum & bass, and they’re open to suggestions if there’s anything else you fancy.

I Back To Basics at Teviot Row Union. 9pm-5am. £10 (£8 in advance from The Fringe box office). 18 Aug only. A double whammy of the stuff clubbing legends are made of as the renowned Leeds night, which has been providing a haven for party people since 1990, joins forces with original house innovator Marshall Jefferson, whose early exploits with dance music created the templates for much of what you’ll hear today. And, as if that wasn’t enough to get your attention, regular Back To Basics collaborator James Holroyd will be supplying some hard ‘n’ funky tunes. Elsewhere in the building, catch Edinburgh’s own DJ Kid and Calibre spinning the drum & bass.

I Ballistic at Studio 24. 11pm—5am. £5. 18 Aug. Monthly. The latest venture from The Mission crew concentrates on the contemporary end of the alternative spectrum, with cutting-edge industrial and chemical beats as well as live showcases for up-and-coming bands.

Sizzling salsa and lively Latin action from DJ Simon Hodge, with all sorts of extra attractions, including dance classes for those who get there sharp, Capoeira displays and tasty tropical food. Scotland’s answer to a superclub drag themselves away from all that fun in the sun in Ibiza (not to mention getting rozzled in the rain (probably) at Glasgow Green - Festival In The City) to put in an appearance at the Edinburgh International Club Festival. Colours favourite Guy Omadel heads the roster with his trademark progressive house and trance sounds, with support from club stalwart Jon Mancini. Manga’s drum & bass experts G-Mac and Unify will also be on hand for those who fancy a change of tempo.

Different Class DJs, which is run by Jungle Magic’s DJ Kid, brings the best drum & bass beats to Edinburgh with this Metalheadz showcase.
